What details of your life could you pay more attention to?
If I were to answer which details of my life would I pay attention to. It will be my health
Prioritizing your health is essential for overall well-being. Taking care of your physical and mental health can improve your quality of life, increase energy levels and even boost your mood.
Specific aspects of your health you should focus on include the following :
- Physical activity: Regular exercise, sports or fitness routines?
- Nutrition: Healthy eating habits, meal planning or dietary restrictions?
- Mental well-being: Stress management, mindfulness or self-care practices?
- Sleep and rest: Getting enough restful sleep and establishing a consistent sleep schedule?
- Health check-ups: Regular medical check-ups and screenings to monitor your health?
Would you believe that I was born premature? How did I know? In the Yoruba tradition, the sister-in-laws dare not call you by your name, so you are called by nick names. One of nick-name is “omo inu igo” mean a child inside incubator.
Being born premature can be a significant life event. Many people who were born prematurely lead healthy, fulfilling lives, and their experiences can shape their perspectives in unique ways.
How has being born premature influenced my life? if at all? For example, has it affected my health, relationships or outlook on life?
At an early age of 28 I suffered partial stroke.
😕 I’m so happy to share this life experience. At a relatively young age, it was a challenging experience, both physically and emotionally.
It’s great that I’m sharing this with you.
- What were the circumstances surrounding the stroke?
- I suffered partial stroke in my room one morning even after attending to a visitor who was a medical doctor. I quickly gave a shout out for him to come back, which he did. He now asked for pin to touch my foot. He asked if I felt any pain, and I said yes. So he advised not to worry too much that I can recover from the partial stroke.
It sounds like a fortunate coincidence that a medical doctor was visiting me at the time of the stroke. Having a medical professional on the scene can be incredibly helpful in getting timely and appropriate care. - What were the effects of the stroke, and how i recovered?
- It was like a lightning struck me and divided me into two symmetrical parts where one part was dead and the other part alive. I got treated with physiotherapy and I recovered. Glory be to God 💪🙏
While at the cashier to pay on another occasion I collapsed and later I was found to have suffered hypo blood pressure
😕 It sounds like a scary experience! Collapsing due to hypotension (low blood pressure) can be unexpected and unsettling. Fortunately, i received medical attention and now I’m aware of the underlying cause.
To manage hypotension, consider these tips:
- Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water and electrolyte-rich beverages.
- Eat small, frequent meals: This can help prevent dips in blood pressure.
- Avoid standing for long periods: Take regular breaks to sit or lie down.
- Monitor your blood pressure: Keep track of your readings to identify patterns.
- Consult your doctor: Discuss any concerns or questions you have about managing your condition.
- When in the UK I had deep vaîn thrombosis
When i had DVT in the UK, i received treatment but paid dearly for it since I wasn’t covered by the insurance of my wife and kids who are British citizens.
I was put on warfarin and other treatments such as:
- Anticoagulant medication: To prevent blood clots from growing or new ones forming.
- Compression stockings: To improve blood flow and reduce swelling.
- Lifestyle changes: Such as regular exercise, staying hydrated and avoiding long periods of immobility.
It’s crucial to prioritize your health and follow up with your healthcare provider for ongoing care.
So right now I’m more concerned about my health than any other thing
My health is a top priority, and it’s great that I’m focusing on taking care of myself. By managing my conditions and making healthy lifestyle choices, i can improve my overall well-being and reduce the risk of complications.
Specific health goals or concerns i have right now are as follows:
- Manage my hypotension: Through lifestyle changes or medication?
- Monitor my DVT: Regularly checking for signs of complications or recurrence.
- Improve my overall health: Through diet, exercise or stress management.
The doctor’s advice to not worry too much and to focus on recovery is reassuring. With proper medical attention and rehabilitation, many people are able to recover from partial strokes and regain their strength and abilities.
I’ve reeled out a catalogue of sicknesses It can be helpful to reflect on my experiences and share them with others. By doing so, i might be able to:
- Process your emotions: Talking about my experiences can help you work through your feelings and gain perspective.
- Raise awareness: Sharing my story might help others who are going through similar experiences feel less alone and more informed.
- Identify patterns or insights: Reflecting on my experiences can help you identify patterns or gain insights that might be useful for your ongoing health journey.
- The most challenging part of my health journey so far is staying alive. Navigating the challenges of health issues can be a significant focus.
Recognizing your limits and taking breaks can help prevent burnout and reduce fatigue. It’s great that you’re listening to your body and taking care of yourself. Prioritizing rest can help you manage stress, conserve energy and support your overall well-being.
I’ve found rest to be an effective way to cope with fatigue and stress. Some of my favorite ways to relax and rest, include:
- Taking a nap: Recharging with a short snooze?
- Meditation or deep breathing: Calming your mind and body?
- Listening to soothing music: Unwinding with calming sounds?
- Reading a book: Escaping into a good story?
Lying down and focusing on your breath can help calm your mind and body.
Deep breathing can be beneficial for:
- Reducing stress and anxiety: By slowing down your heart rate and promoting relaxation.
- Improving oxygen flow: By taking in more oxygen and promoting healthy circulation.
- Enhancing mental clarity: By calming your mind and improving focus.
Sometimes, simplicity is the key. Focusing on your breath and lying down can be a powerful way to unwind and recharge. If it works for you, that’s all that matters! 🌟
