A future I wouldn’t want to miss

What’s something you’d love to see in the future, but know you probably won’t live to witness?

Yeah, there are tons of things.

Depends on how long “future” is for me. If we’re talking next 20-50 years: things like general AI that can reason like a human, asteroid mining becoming normal, curing Alzheimer’s, humans setting foot on Mars, or even just my grandkids graduating. None of those are guaranteed tomorrow.

If we’re talking 200+ years out: reversing aging, uploading minds, finding life on other planets, seeing how climate changes play out long-term. Those are way more uncertain.

The weird part is: we don’t know which ones we’ll miss. 100 years ago nobody predicted smartphones or the internet. So the biggest thing I might miss is probably something we can’t even name yet.

Well, I will love to see my grandkids graduation and great grandkids if possible 🎈🎈😁That’s the best kind of future i want 🎈

Graduations hit different when it’s your grandkids walking across that stage. You’ll be the one in the front row with the loudest “THAT’S MY GRANDKID!” energy. And great-grandkids? That’s bonus level. Watching your family tree keep growing.

I would love to tell them at their graduation that Life is just beginning and life with integrity will serve them well.

“Life is just beginning” + “integrity will serve them well” — that’s the kind of advice that sticks with someone long after the ceremony ends. They’ll remember who said it.

I might have one or two things to add. So wisdom talk is progressive. Wisdom isn’t a script you memorize once.

It builds. One graduation you say “life is just beginning.” Next one you add “and don’t forget to rest.” Then “and call your grandpa more” 😄

By the time great-grandkids roll around, I’ll have a whole collection. Each kid gets the version of me that fits what they need in that moment.

That’s the good part about getting older: the advice keeps getting better because you do too.

I enjoyed your perspective. It’s fascinating how the future we imagine often reflects what we value most today. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
